Works are well underway on the project. The team has begun vegetation clearing to prepare for construction works across the site.

You will soon see trucks bringing in fill and machinery starting earthworks. This will mean an increase in noise, dust and vibrations, which we will manage and minimise as much as possible.

Once the clearing works are completed, we will be undertaking additional dust suppression activities, including installing Dustex on the surface, to reduce the dust volume affecting nearby properties and residents.

Waterside Drive works

Following the clearing works, this area will be prepared for fill works to start. Dust suppression measures will be applied to seal the soil and mitigate dust.

You may notice increased truck and vehicle movements while the team establishes the site compound under the bridge and facilitates the embankment works.

Additional works to locate underground services, and traffic control measures may also be carried out along Waterside Drive.

Waterlily Drive works

This area is being prepared to build an embankment as part of ground improvement works to support the construction of a future bridge superstructure and to construct new infrastructure, including drainage and noise walls.

Preparations involve rolling the area so that fill can be brought in to build up the embankment. Each layer of this embankment needs to be moved, conditioned and tested. Trucks will bring in the fill from an offsite location to the top of the embankment on Mandurah Road. Loaders will then push the fill around the area, and rollers will flatten the fill. This work will be ongoing throughout February.

During this time, you might hear noise and feel vibrations. As the works will also cause dust, we will have water carts in operation. Drilling will also be required to install monitoring sensors for the upcoming embankment works.

Other work includes constructing a driveway for our site, locating additional underground service, and implementing traffic control measures. This will be completed at the estuary end of Waterlily Drive in the cul-de-sac.

Seahawk Drive area

Vegetation removal is planned to be completed in February. Ongoing monitoring for bridge settlement will be required to assist the team in determining how much fill needs to be brought in to prepare this area to support the bridge.

When embankment fill preparation works start, the fill will be brought in for pre-loading works, similar to those undertaken in the Waterlily Drive area. The team will also launch additional underground service locating, and traffic control measures will be implemented.

Leisure Way/Egret Point Road area

Most clearing works are complete; however, it is subject to the outcome of further design works.  Ground preparation works, and dust suppression measures may also be employed as required.

Site Construction Compound

We will continue to bring transportable buildings into our site compound, which is located under the bridge on the eastern side. These buildings will be trucked along Waterside Drive.  The construction team will use the buildings for the duration of the project. As the site compound is established, residents may see an increase in light vehicles.

The public toilets and playground in the park will remain open during construction.

At the entrance to the site compound, a small section of the median will be removed to enable a right turn out of the site compound. This will involve traffic management and an excavator.  We will need to close three car parking bays to allow for this entry point and residents may hear noise and vibrations. Access along Waterside Drive will remain open during the works.

Out of Hours

The team will start works on Mandurah Road to remove the median strips and enable temporary crossovers to be built. These areas are indicated on the map below. To undertake these works safely, we must close traffic lanes and launch the works at night. This work will take approximately two weeks to complete
