The Peel Health Campus (PHC) project is set to reach significant milestones in the coming months, with the
hospital on track to be a Government-owned and operated facility in August 2024.
Work is also progressing on the redevelopment of Peel Health Campus, with planning well underway.
Redevelopment enabling works are expected to commence before the end of the year, with a tender to be
released soon.
The current redevelopment budget of $152 million will be updated when final planning is complete, with existing funding utilised to progress redevelopment enabling works. The scope of works will include more than 60 additional inpatient beds, including more mental health inpatient beds, 15 palliative care hospice beds, an additional operating theatre and the introduction of a new Mental Health Emergency Centre.
It will also deliver 12 chemotherapy places, more outpatient services, and a new build of medical imaging
services, along with a reconfiguration of the emergency department and expansion of the day procedure unit.
In addition, a market-led proposal for a new private hospital to be built and operated adjacent to the public hospital is being processed, with Ramsay Health Care now in exclusive negotiations with the state on the proposal.
This is on top of the $10 million upgrade for Peel Health Campus already delivered and includes an expanded
emergency department, additional car parking, overhauled nurse call system and increased security.
South Metropolitan Health Service is well on track to deliver the new $17.5 million Community Mental Health and Specialist Community Eating Disorders Service in Peel, funded by the Commonwealth. The service will deliver more mental healthcare in the community where people need it most, keeping people out of hospital, built on person-centred and evidence-based care principles.
The Community Mental Health and Specialist Community Eating Disorders Service is on top of the satellite Kara Marr service that opened at Peel Health Hub in Mandurah in December 2023. It supports a continuum of primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare settings for patients.
Our government is completely committed to delivering this redevelopment to Peel's communities.
I will always fight for the needs of residents in my electorate and the broader Peel community. This investment in Peel Health Campus will ensure the Mandurah region continues to have an exceptional range of local healthcare options.
I look forward to providing further updates on the redevelopment's progress and explaining how our community will benefit from the most significant upgrade of the Peel Health Campus in its history.
As new updates arise, I assure you that I will update the community.
If you would like to stay up to date on the progression of this project and be advised of opportunities for the local community to get involved, please sign up for my monthly community newsletter below.
